Note: The result is visibly better if the background you wish to remove or replace is plain, preferably green.

👉 To remove background from your photo or video:
  1. Open your Splice project
  2. On the timeline, tap on the photo or video whose background you wish to remove
  3. Choose Cutout > Off (Chroma Key) from the editing toolbar
  4. In the preview, move the color picker around to choose the color you’d like to remove. For more precision, use the Area and Shadow sliders in the Chroma Key tab.
To add another photo or video as a new background, follow the steps below ⬇️

👉 To replace your background with another one:
  1. Add media to your project: both the main object and its future background.
  2. On the timeline, long press on the asset with the main object and drag it to the upper track. Make sure that the clip you want to be the background, remains on the track below.
  3. Long press the main object asset again to move it right/left on the timeline to position it above the future background.
  4. Choose Cutout > Off (Chroma Key) from the bottom toolbar.
  5. In the preview, move the color picker around to choose the color you’d like to remove. For more precision, use the Area and Shadow sliders in the Chroma Key tab.

Note: If the Chroma Key feature is not visible where you typically find it, please tap Cutout first and set it to Off to enable Chroma Key.
